The Surroundings
La Posta del Cavaliere is located near Lake Trasimeno. Here you can take advantage of well-equipped public beaches, practise water sports, or visit the nearby Polvese and Maggiore Islands. Its excellent geographical position allows you to easily reach major cultural and tourist attractions like Assisi, Perugia, Rome, Florence, Arezzo, and Siena.
The Borzacchini motor racing circuit is about 1 Km away from our structure and it organises local and National car and motorcycle races. It can also be used for private test runs and trials. Among the historical-cultural destinations in the immediate vicinity, we’d like to highlight:
- Magione: the Church of Saint John the Baptist, which dates back to the XII century, the Knights of Malta Castle, the Castle of Zocco, the Castle of Montecolognola, and the Torre dei Lombardi;
- Passignano sul Trasimeno: the Church of "Madonna dell'Uliveto", which dates back to the XVI century, and the Barche Museum;
- Tuoro sul Trasimeno: The Castle of Montegualandro;
- Montemelino: The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes;
- Castel Rigone: The Sanctuary of "Maria Santissima dei Miracoli", which dates back to the XV-XVI centuries;
- Tavernelle (Panicale): The Sanctuary of Mongiovino;
- Castiglione del Lago: The della Corgna Palace, which dates back to the XVI century.
In his renowned paintings Pietro Vannucci, also called «the Perugino», was inspired by the views which, from Città della Pieve, proceed towards Lake Trasimeno
and the Valdichiana.
